Our Mental Health Counselors

Stephen Shaw earned a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from the Springfield College of Human Services in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, in 2016. He is a clinician for the Clara Martin Center working remotely for the Bradford office and will see White River Family Practice patients via telehealth on Wednesday mornings. He prioritizes both helping patients to identify and access valuable resources specific to them as well as empowering them to ideate and create positive change in their lives. Steve helped manage a bowling center in northern Vermont for many years prior to pursuing his true passion–helping others. He is a lifelong resident of northern New England, and enjoys spoiling his grandchildren, music, reading and international sports.

Melanie Williams earned a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Antioch New England in 1996. She is a clinician with the Clara Martin Center and can see White River Family Practice patients on Tuesday mornings at the Clara Martin Center’s Wilder location. Melanie works with people using a variety of modalities with an emphasis on cognitive-behavioral interventions. Melanie supports individuals to build on their strengths to make positive change in their lives and reach their goals. Melanie has held a variety of positions in the field of behavioral health. In her free time she enjoys being outdoors, hiking, foraging and other nature-based activities.
